Assisting ELT Teachers: Designing Activities for the Use of ChatGPT in Teaching and Learning

Abstract

This research aims to explore the potential of ChatGPT, a language model developed by OpenAI, in enhancing teaching and learning. The study focuses on designing activities that use ChatGPT to engage learners in language and content-based tasks. The research method includes a literature review and a design-based research approach. The literature review examines the current state of the art in the use of language models in education and identifies key issues, challenges, and opportunities.
